As the Girl Scouts year begins, I have been given the opportunity to create a fall participation patch for the girl scouts of the Central Coast.
Recology hosted its annual "Hollister Downtown Fall Cleanup" this year and the Service Unit of the Central Coast decided that a new patch was needed. As I joined the Girl Scouts as a new Daisy Troop Co-leader just recently, they snatched up the opportunity to utilize the skills of a graphic designer, as quickly as possible.
With a little inspiration and some key elements a simple and timeless patch was created that can be used for years to come, as new girls join this great event year after year.
Now that one patch has been designed, I hope I get the opportunity to create many more for such a great organization.
On a side note, I have been given the honor of mentoring a Senior Troop that is working on a two part Silver Award project, one part featuring the design and production of a brand new Hollister Patch! The Hollister girl scouts have never had a patch designed for them, and the girls of this Senior Troop are taking on the challenge. I am so excited to be a part of this, and to help them along the way with my knowledge as a graphic designer and that of turning great designs into physical elements. I'll keep you posted as we take the steps necessary to get the first Hollister patch ever, created!
Girl Scouts here we come! I hope everyone had a great first day of the season!
